Learn more about Feyzal
The COVID-19 pandemic changed the world for everyone in numerous ways. For Feyzal, it reshaped his path, leading him to join Clark University in May 2021 to pursue a master’s in international development. He focused on forced migration, community, and belonging within the Sustainability and Social Justice department. After being evacuated from Peace Corps service in Ghana, he was welcomed with a state of confusion back in the US where there was a total lockdown in place – something he was, just like everyone else, unprepared for!
After graduating in December 2022, Feyzal joined the Clark University workforce in March 2024 as the Assistant Director of Community Living, Off-Campus Housing, and Campus Ambassador Supervisor. His journey began in Somaliland where he was born, then proceeded to Kenya where he went through primary school and partially high school, then Ohio where he completed high school. He later graduated from “The” Ohio State University.
Before moving back to Somaliland to spend some quality time with his father and Grandmother in 2014, Feyzal worked as a Senior Compliance Associate at Morgan Stanley, overseeing new accounts opening, and managing anti-money laundering procedures and a team of analysts.
His passion and dedication towards community and humanitarian work were sparked by the invaluable experience he got while volunteering at a Somaliland children’s home where he met Abdulrazak, a little boy whose mother and twin had passed on. For Abdulrazak, this community within the organization was his entire world since that’s all he knew. This experience shifted Feyzal’s worldview and formed the basis of his new journey toward serving humanity, especially in the face of multiple planetary crises.
Feyzal enjoys spending time with friends, traveling, exploring new cuisines, and swimming – he plans to swim at Clark’s pool—an endeavor he has “successfully” procrastinated on since the Summer of 2021!
